Golf gifts for dad

Dads who play golf are famously hard to buy for, because they buy the obvious things themselves. These are the treats most golfing dads want but won't spend on.

What we'd buy

Specific products we'd happily give a golfer ourselves, and who each one suits. Where a UK golf shop we track sells the same thing, we show today's cheapest price.

  1. Titleist Pro V1 golf balls

Perfect for The dad who plays whatever ball he finds in the hedge

Most club golfers would love to play the ball the pros use but can't justify the price. A dozen is a treat he'll notice on every tee. Check our Compare balls page for the cheapest shop.

From £47.49 a dozen at HotGolf today, one of 5 UK shops we track.

  2. Bushnell Tour V6 Shift rangefinder

Perfect for A bigger present for a keen golfer

The rangefinder most club golfers trust. Point it at the flag and it gives the exact distance, with a little vibration when it locks on. No more guessing yardages from sprinkler heads.

  3. Titleist Tour double canopy umbrella

Perfect for The dad who plays in any weather

A big, sturdy umbrella with a double canopy that lets the wind through instead of turning inside out. It looks smart on the bag, and he'll use it on rainy school runs too.

  4. Golf is Not a Game of Perfect, by Dr Bob Rotella

Perfect for A dad who takes a bad round to heart

The classic book on the mental side of golf. Short chapters and real stories make it easy to dip into, and it's the one golfers most often recommend to each other.

  5. Zippo HeatBank rechargeable hand warmer

Perfect for Winter rounds and cold Sunday mornings

Charges by USB, keeps his hands warm between shots for hours and doubles as a phone power bank. A thoughtful gift for a dad who refuses to stop playing in winter.

  6. Garmin Approach S44 GPS watch

Perfect for A dad who likes his gadgets

Distances to the front, middle and back of every green on his wrist, plus everyday fitness tracking. Easier than a rangefinder and he'll wear it every day.

Buying for a golfer: what to check

Safe bets

Balls, tees, towels, markers, umbrellas and golf tech don't need a size, hand or flex, so they're hard to get wrong.

Gloves and shoes

You'll need their size. Most right-handed golfers wear one glove on their left hand. If in doubt, check the glove in their golf bag.

Clubs

Clubs depend on height, hand and swing speed. Unless you know exactly what they want, a gift card from the shop is safer.

Delivery and returns

Check each shop's last Christmas delivery date and returns window before you buy, and ask for a gift receipt.

Prices change, so check on the shop's site before you buy. Links to shops and Amazon may be affiliate links: if you buy, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never decides what we recommend. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
