How we check
A deal only counts if the price is genuinely lower
Golf shops love a "was" price. Plenty of them are real; some are a price nobody ever paid. Up & Down ignores the price on the tag and looks at what each shop has actually been charging.
The rules
1. We check every few hours. Each shop's prices are recorded, so we build up a history for every product. Shops that publish a product feed are checked in full every three hours. Shops without one are read a few hundred product pages at a time, so each product is checked every couple of days, and anything that looks reduced is re-checked every three hours.
2. "Usual price" is what the shop really charged. It's the middle price over the last 90 days, not the RRP.
3. 30% under, or it's out. Only reductions of 30% or more against that usual price make the leaderboard. When it goes back up or sells out, it drops off.
4. "Not yet verified" means we're still checking. We need at least two weeks of our own price records before we can say what a product normally sells for. Until then, the saving is worked out from the shop's own "was" or RRP price, and the deal is marked "Not yet verified". Once we have the history, the saving is recalculated against what the shop really charged. If the "was" price turns out to be inflated, the saving shrinks or the deal drops off the board. Shop "was" prices claiming more than 70% off are ignored until they've been checked.
5. How the leaderboard is ordered. Every deal has already passed the 30% test, so the order is about which reductions golfers are most likely to want. We score each one on the size of the saving (both % and £), whether it's a brand golfers know, whether it's a well-known model or one stocked by several shops, the type of product, and how recently the price dropped. Fresh reductions rise and older ones slowly sink, so the board changes every day. We also mix it up so you see clubs, shoes, clothing, tech and accessories near the top rather than twenty jackets in a row. You can always re-sort by biggest % or £ saving.
6. You can report a deal. Every deal has a "Report" button. If three or more people report that a deal's price has changed or it's out of stock within 48 hours, it comes off the leaderboard until the shop's price changes. We read every report.
7. Affiliate links never decide the board. Some links earn us a small commission. Commission plays no part in the score or the order.

"None yet" usually means we're still building that shop's price history, or it has no reductions of 30% or more today. Some shops are read a few hundred products at a time, so their deals start appearing a little later.
Buying from a shop
You always buy directly from the shop, on its own website, so its prices, delivery charges, returns policy and customer service apply. We don't sell anything or handle orders. Before you buy, check the shop's delivery cost and returns window, and the exact size, hand, loft or shaft you're getting: big reductions are often on one variant.
